Whenever I am in Ecuador, I have to visit this place, it’s so relaxing and the environment pure and simple. The thermal waters coming from the mountains, from the very cold ones, (polar tub), to the very hot ones are incredible for your well being. There are experience massage therapists on site that will leave you refresh and anew. Also the food prepared in the restaurant by the chefs is delicious and sure very nutritious. Time to rest, well just sit by the chimney and read or watch TV.. I can’t comment on the cabins or rooms for I only go for a day.

Everything about this property was and amazing. The location is high altitude… Over 13,000 feet ….The room was spacious. Unlimited fresh spring water in a large jug, was provided in the room. Steps outside the room was the hot sping pools. They were incredible to bathe in. The restaurant offers delicious meals and top notch service! The spa treatments are unique.

We made las minute travel plans and decided to stay at the hotel from thursday to friday. From the moment we arrived we noticed that the staff was very welcoming and friendly, the check in was really fast and they provided free wifi. every single room is a few steps from the thermal pools. our room was clean, comfortable and cozy. the only problem was that the bathroom was a little off dated. The hot springs pools were clean, the hotel provides each guest a robe that is excellent to move from pool to pool. Breakfast was included it was good, the other foods are not included.

We stayed one night at this lodge as part of our travel with Gate 1 Travel. That was out first an unique experience with thermals pools and it was GREAT! Our Alpine-lodge-looking room #2 was spacious and cozy with a comfortable bed and everything what you need, even with the space heater, which was much needed on a cool May night. The only cons is the walls are too thin and you can hear your neighbors. But forget about the room! The VIEWS and nature are unbelievable!! Just for that I am ready to come back to Ecuador! The thermal pools in front of the cottages, especially on the cool Andean evening were something that words cannot describe. To sit in the warm water and see clouds passing buy so close down through the mountains gives you absolutely surreal feeling. We didn’t want to leave “our” pool, but we had to go on farewell dinner with our travel group. Dinner in the restaurant was great, everything was delicious. Next morning, after the breakfast buffet we explored “public” larger pools and spa nearby, which guests of the lodge can get services with 15% discount. Pools are very clean, and as we understand maintenance was done to keep them that way because when we came back to our ”own” pool in front of the lodge, it was drained and cleaned. No problem – we just used the next one to “ours”. The volcanic water properties are amazing! My skin never felt as smooth and silky soft. Water has no smell and you can find temperature that it is the most comfortable for you in the pool. Pools also varies from hot and cold. You definitely need sunscreen during the day time. We didn’t drink pool volcanic water, however signs recommend it for medicinal reasons. The random splashes that I tasted were only slightly salty, not disgusting at all. We had no problem with 11,000 altitude, but we took altitude medicine during out entire trip in Ecuador. Our incredible guide Wilson recommended the local hike and it was interesting to see the river with rushing waterfalls, beautiful fields with cows and lamas, magnificent green mountains. The trail is well maintained and has signs everywhere, but it can be muddy in some places among the river. Papallacta (which per Wiki translates as Potato Town) is now one of my favorite places in the world and I definitely would like to be back! Oh yeah, and the rose arrangements through all public areas of the hotel and on each dining table are just incredible. Every plant there looks supersized and lush! What a wonderful, magical place!
